What are the best ways to get from Newquay Airport?

Our Cornwall holiday FAQs cover useful information for your stay, including travel, local shops, parking, beaches and getting around the area.

Newquay Airport is just a 10-minute drive away. We recommend pre-booking a local taxi or using the frequent bus services that connect the airport to St Columb Major. Car rentals are also available directly at the terminal for those looking to explore further afield.

Is there a local supermarket nearby?

Yes, several local convenience stores are within walking distance in St Columb Major. For a larger shop, there are major supermarkets such as Morrisons and Sainsbury's in Newquay, approximately a 15-minute drive from the retreat.

Which beaches are the easiest to access?

Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth are our closest beaches, both accessible within a 10-12 minute drive. These offer excellent parking, public facilities, and straightforward coastal paths suitable for all ages and four-legged friends.

What are the property details/ amenities?

This secluded two-story retreat in historic St Columb Major comfortably sleeps 8 across 4 bedrooms, featuring 1 king, 3 queen, and 2 twin beds. The elevated main level is accessed by steps and opens into a cozy living space with plush sofas, a wood burner, and a 43" smart TV with Google. Facilities include 2.5 bathrooms—one with a walk-in shower and another with a bath and overhead shower—plus an additional upstairs WC. Enjoy the tranquility of the roof terrace, which offers stunning countryside and sunset views.

  • We welcome children but ask that especially young ones are supervised at all times. 
  • The main roof terrace is enclosed and has a gate leading to the outside steps.

Pet Requirements?

​Is the accommodation suitable for wheelchair users or guests with limited mobility?

  • Access leading to the accommodation includes 2 small steps up from the road with 2 handrails. and then a normal flight of outside stairs with a handrail to one side.
  • Please note the accommodation is mostly on one level once inside. 
  • It may not be suitable for people who cannot manage stairs or who have very limited mobility.
  • We have regularly had guests aged 80–92 stay comfortably, but it depends on each person’s ability to manage normal stairs. 
  • Please ask if you require more information.
  • The main public car park is just 60 yards away (Free evenings and Weekends and £5 per day)
  • There are two more car parks within a short walk
  • On-street parking available nearby

Can we bring pets?

  • Pets shouldn’t be left alone unless safely caged
  • No toileting on the astro turf please
  • Damage or extra cleaning fees may apply

Check in/out times

  • Check in is 4pm onwards 
  • Check out is 10am​
  • We use a professional cleaning company who have a tight schedule.  We will do our best to accommodate any request for early check ins  or late check outs where possible
